Adelaide Festival Photographer: Lucky Dumpling Market 2020

Here’s the context of the day: wake up at 8am, immediately tune into CNN/ABC/Fox YouTube live streams to get news ahead of the 2020 US election day with a caffeinated beverage at hand to check into reality as the shitshow begins. *big deep breathing*. With one eye firmly tracking results in Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania and co, the other was busy exporting smaller file sizes for blog pieces. As things were heating up in the voting, we had a client meeting at the back end of the day at The Gallery on Waymouth.

Immediately after the meeting, back on the phone, we read news of Trump claiming the election was a ‘fraud’, that he “did win this election” already and that he wants the courts to “stop counting now”. Yikes.

So that was the pretext.

Upon scooting down a pumping King William Road, with the State of Origin on at Adelaide Oval, we arrived at an extremely vibrant and lively Riverbank Precinct for the Lucky Dumpling Market 2020, which was our first festival since COVID-19. The weather powers-that-be didn’t give us what we wanted with a chill in the air, but the atmosphere well and truly made up for it.

We hadn’t attended last year’s rendition of the event, being overseas (getting married ourselves), however we frequented the 2018 market which we photographed as well. Have to say, much prefered its location underneath the Adelaide Convention Centre for photography reasons. However, it was still gorgeous nevertheless.

We were looked after by Kitty Barr, and the lovely team at Sassafras Public Relations, and as such looked after our bellies through some amazing Sri Lankan Kottu from Soza’s and Forage Co supplied us with jackfruit dumps. Any good meal requires a tipple of some libation and that it did. Gordon’s. Tinned Gordon’s. Not overly SA, but it was from the Coopers Brewery stand.

Most importantly for us, the clouds parted like Moses did the Red Sea, and we were blessed with a beaut sunset. We didn’t get the gradient we could see from yonder the night before, but we had a result nevertheless.

If you’re in need of an Adelaide festival photographer or want to chat to us about the Lucky Dumpling Market, chat to us. We like convos.
