Adelaide Proposal Photography: Diana and Anthony

Not having a ping of reception and a final meeting place to rendezvous, with you know, a client to meet up with - it was a little bit scary, with that hanging over you. You have no final destination, like the American horror film franchise. We were meeting up in Kuitpo Forest, near Christmas Hill. As was, it seems, everyone else in Adelaide on this dreary, overcast Sunday afternoon. But hey, as photographers, we know that the best, and most economical, softbox is that above - clouds. So we're on!

If you're after an Autumn nature outing for your next weekend trip in Adelaide, go to Kuitpo. Little campfires littered everywhere, horses in abundance, mushroom collecting groups, picnic galore - and of course passing through the quaint little German village township of Hahndorf. What brought us this way? Well, we were booked in for an Adelaide engagement photoshoot for Diana and Anthony - a year after their engagement.

This assignment was a replacement for Diana and Anthony's engagement party which, sadly, felt the wrath of COVID-19. Plans. Cancelled.

We, as a trio were supposed to try and find the same spot in Kuitpo that Anthony proposed on to Diana. Although, we failed, miserably. Thus we ended up finding another tree stump and reenacted the same shot, which was standing on a tree stump and Anthony.

In the lead-in, I'd been told that there were to be lightsabers involved. One that radiates pink light. Okay. Sweet. HAVE to get a really cool shot with them, holding a lightsaber. Initially, we thought it might've difficult to shoot with golden light desired to be poking through. With conditions like that it can be tricky. But, with the conditions changing on us, with it being dark, moody, glum certainly wasn't going to achieve that look but speaking to Diana over Instagram messages, the lightsaber will come up a treat. The forest was just shining through of dark greens, and evenly coloured leaves. And then of course, you've got the pine leaves falling onto the ground which goes to red.

Anthony had a few requests to get some Star Wars-themed shots with their lightsaber and their sister creepily looking at them from a bush to represent the fact that she's always around. They always loved hanging out. We finished up and jumped in the car exclaiming to each other how much we require a hot chocolate/coffee to warm the soul. Instead, we met halfway, kind of, at a bakehouse, with one of our favourites - the Bakery on O'Connell doughnut. Clients if you're wanting to get us anything - Bakery on O'Connell. The vegan doughnut with sprinkles is the way to go and if they don't have gift vouchers, they definitely need to get some.

Looking forward to the next seven days - we have a few different shoots booked in, but tomorrow (time of writing), Wednesday, we have another D&D session. Lewis' character, Magmus, nearly died in the past session if it weren't for an inspirational save. Anyway, it's a laugh. You know what else is? Chatting to us. Get in touch. Ciao for now.
