Adelaide Photographer: ATE 2026 - Journey Beyond Event

Adelaide Event Photographer: Journey Beyond ATE Experience at National Wine Centre

The National Wine Centre in Adelaide provides a structured yet adaptable environment for large-scale experiential events, particularly those that require a transition between formal presentation and immersive brand storytelling.

For Journey Beyond, the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) event was designed as a multi-layered guest experience β€” moving from arrival hospitality through to performance, corporate presentation, and an immersive outdoor activation inspired by regional Australian rail journeys.

Frankie The Creative was engaged to document the event as a continuous experience, capturing both the staged production elements and the transitions between each phase of the evening.

Project Facts

Client: Journey Beyond
Event: Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) Experience
Location: National Wine Centre, Adelaide
Type: Experiential corporate event / brand activation
Coverage: Event photography (multi-phase narrative documentation)
Duration: Evening production coverage
Objective: Document guest journey through staged experiential environments
Deliverables: PR, marketing, stakeholder, and internal communications imagery
Approach: Narrative-driven event documentation across sequential activation zones

Method

Frankie The Creative’s approach to event photography prioritises continuity of narrative across changing environments, rather than isolated coverage of individual performances or activations.

This event required coverage across multiple staged environments within a single venue, each designed to represent a different phase of a broader journey concept.

Working within a live production schedule, the focus remained on capturing transitions between experiences β€” from arrival hospitality through to performance, presentation, and immersive outdoor activation.

Experience Structure

Arrival & Hospitality

Guests entered through a structured welcome sequence at the National Wine Centre, beginning with meet-and-greet interactions and arrival service. Champagne service (a Bollinger moment for those in the know…) and curated food stations (oysters, canapes, sashimi) established the tone of the evening, positioning hospitality as the opening layer of the experience.

Opening Performance Sequence

The main event commenced with a staged opening sequence featuring live performance elements, including didgeridoo and vocal performance of β€œWe Are Australian.” This moment established the transition from arrival into programmed experience.

Lighting design and staging created a strong visual focal point within the Juliette Balcony and main room space.

Live Performance Segment

Mitch Tambo and Lele’s performance introduced a multi-song set supported by integrated screen content. This combination of live music and visual projection added a layered production dimension to the event environment.

Audience response and spatial energy shifted significantly during this segment, reinforcing the transition from formal introduction into entertainment-led experience.

Corporate Presentation

Following the performance segment, guests were guided into a structured corporate presentation led by Journey Beyond leadership - Alicia Trigg and Chris Tallent.

This segment provided the strategic and commercial context for the evening, balancing the experiential elements with organisational narrative and brand positioning.

Transition: The Train Sequence

A key moment in the event structure occurred as the presentation concluded and the simulated β€œtrain arrival” sequence was activated.

Audio cues and lighting changes signalled the transition, with two doors opening through LED panels on wheels and staff guiding guests from the interior environment into the next experiential space - outside - β€œthe outback”.

This transition functioned as the narrative bridge between corporate presentation and immersive activation.

Telegraph Stop Activation (Outdoor Experience)

Guests entered an outdoor courtyard environment reimagined as an β€œOutback Telegraph Station” activation.

The space combined live music, fire pits, atmospheric lighting, and curated food and beverage stations designed to evoke regional Australian rail experiences.

Key elements included BBQ service, Indigenous-inspired culinary offerings, dessert stations, and signature beverage service featuring Seppeltsfield Espresso Mar-Tawnies.

The environment was designed as a fully immersive sensory space rather than a passive event area.

Production Notes

Coverage was completed across a continuous evening production with multiple lighting environments, ranging from controlled indoor stage lighting to low-light outdoor atmospheric conditions lit with festoon lights.

The transition between structured performance, corporate presentation, and immersive activation required rapid adaptation in exposure control and framing, particularly during the shift between interior and exterior environments. Not going to lie, it was tough.

The use of mixed ambient lighting across fire pits, stage lighting, and practical venue illumination contributed to a highly variable visual field throughout the event.

Outcome

The final image library documents Journey Beyond’s ATE experience as a structured narrative journey rather than a sequence of isolated event moments.

The coverage reflects the progression from arrival hospitality through to immersive activation, capturing both the operational execution and guest experience across multiple environments.

The resulting imagery supports PR, tourism marketing, stakeholder reporting, and brand communication across national and international channels.
